Third request in two months and still unresolved

Thanks for the additional info regarding your workflow. I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong here; I think there’s a bug I just haven’t worked out how to reproduce yet. I’ll keep plugging away at it to see if I can find and fix the cause. I don’t think there’s really anything you can do to fix this on your end, since it appears that in cases in which the ugly link is given, it’s simply what’s available from within the editor.

I think I just figured out a workaround for you while we sort out a proper fix. The best I can tell, this issue occurs when you upload media while writing the post. In my testing, if I upload the media first and then insert previously uploaded images while writing the post, I get the pretty urls and the duplication does not occur. So while we sort this out, you could adjust your workflow as follows:
1. Upload relevant photos to the media library.
2. Write your post and insert from the media library as needed, picking only files already uploaded. If you try this out and discover that it doesn’t fix the problem, please let me know. Meanwhile, I’ll see what we can do to avoid the need for a new workflow.

Hi there:
I just tried that (that is what I did before your recent email) and it does not work. I entered the photos for the new post I’m working on both ways, directly into the post and via the media library and then inserted and they both gave me the ugly URL.
I’ve noticed that it is a random thing. I have over 800 posts and sometimes it is one post a week, and more recently it has been EVERY post that sends the duplicate emails. I’m so frustrated.
What is strange is that I have two other blogs on WP: thethirdeyeworld and Diary of a Happy Mom and neither or these blogs send duplicate emails.
I have seen another few WP blogs that do this two. I had mentioned it earlier.
I’m in the process of moving my blog over to WP.org yet I think this issue should be resolved first as the other blog that I follow was WP.com and now WP.org and she has had the same duplicate email problems with both.com and .org. So I know we need to resolve this. But for her blog, it is almost every time we get duplicate emails. Here is her latest post that I got duplicates of:
http://ske-daddle.com/2013/11/24/tips-throwing-best-50th-birthday-party-ever/I really hope we can fix this bug. It started perhaps 6-8 months ago and I have been using your site for almost three years. so something fishy!
Thanks again so much!!!!!!!

Hi Nicole, so sorry for the delay getting back to you about this. Our developers are still working on a fix for this issue, and I’m checking with them now on the status. I’m also checking with them about the workaround that isn’t working for you. I’ll let you know as soon as I have more information!

At long last, I believe we have a fix for this! I regret that it has taken so very long, but it turned out to be a complex issue requiring lots of debugging, several proposed methods of fixing, a bunch of testing, and finally what we hope is a proper fix. If you’d be so kind as to let us know how things go when you next publish, we’d be most grateful. Cheers,

Hi there! I didn’t know if it was
On your end or mine but I also changed what I was doing. When I insert a picture I changed it to “link as media file”. Since the start of my blog I had been doing link to attachment page which must have been the default. Anyways whatever happened the dips haven’t appeared for a few
Months now so I appreciate it!!!!!
