I was trying to login to my WordPress Domain Name Control Panel this morning because I want to transfer my domain name to my current web host (GoDaddy). I couldn’t remember my username and password and after several failed attempts to login, I got the error message “This account is locked. Please contact Customer Support.”

I got an automated email message from WordPress with a Customer Service number to call. When I called that number, I was told that it was a number for Wild West Domains.com and that I had to contact WordPress but WordPress didn’t have a customer service phone number.

I sent an email to customer support at WordPress but I have not received a reply.

    So here is the background:

I purchased my domain name from WordPress.com. It appears that they have sold it to Wild West Domains.com. I now have my domain name on a self-hosted site on WordPress.org and my web host is GoDaddy.

Could someone at WordPress.com please unlock my site so that I can proceed with the transfer of my domain name to GoDaddy?
    Thank you.

    Hi there,

Your account was locked for your security, since there were several unsuccessful attempts to log in. I contacted our domain registrar partner to have your account unlocked — I’ll let you know as soon as that’s done. :)

Once it is unlocked, you’ll be able to reset your account password and log in to transfer your domain. (We have a guide for how to do that here: Transfer a Domain to Another Registrar) Please let me know if you have any questions in the meantime!

    Hi there,

Your account for the domain manager is now unlocked. You can reset your password and log in to the domain manager by going to Store > Domains in your dashboard at WordPress.com. Under “Domain Administration” at the bottom of that page, select “Transfer ownership to another registrar” and follow the instructions on the screen.

We have complete instructions for transferring your domain here: Transfer a Domain to Another Registrar

Please let me know if I can provide any further help with this. :)

    Hi Rachel,

I am still not able to login to my domain manager. I have tried updating the password numerous times. I always get an error message that says that the username or password is incorrect. That is what kept happening yesterday until my account was finally locked due to numerous attempts to login.

I have tried to login a couple of times this morning and I am still getting the error message. I am afraid to keep trying because I don’t want the account to get locked again.

There is another error message on my account that says that my DNS needs to be updated. It says: Currently the nameservers for this domain are:
    NS37.DOMAINCONTROL.COM
    NS38.DOMAINCONTROL.COM

Using the DNS tools provided by your domain registrar, remove any existing nameservers and add the following:
    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

However, I am not able to login to my domain manager to change the nameservers.

I am completely frustrated with this. Can you please help me ASAP? Thank you!
