this account used my email address
-
This account was created using my GMail address, which I assume was harvested from a website (probably a forum I am registered on) somewhere. I did not know about it’s existence until I tried to register an account today to get access to API-keys and was refused due to an account already existing with my email address.
I would like to delete this account and create a real account (something usable) linked to my GMail email account, however I see no option under the profile settings to delete this user account.
I am guessing this was automatically registered with the intent to post spam comments, so it behooves WordPress to delete this account anyway, whether I am able to register a real account under this email address afterwards or not.
Please help, feel free to contact me by email, if you are a site administrator you already know the address anyway ;)

You’ll need to contact staff directly on this one. Volunteers in the forum can’t help with it. Here’s the info:

That’s unfortunate, support is currently closed and I’m trying to setup a new wordpress install :(

Hang on: if you’re installing WP on an independent server, you don’t need a WordPress.com account at all, except if you want WP stats and Akismet. You should be able to make an account specific to that blog on that server. WordPress.org will have details about that.

Yes, I am trying to access API-Keys to use Akismet. Going to send a message to support now, see if we can get this fixed.
