This Connection is Untrusted message
-
I set up a WordPress.com site for my client with the custom url of http://www.dotstraveladventures.com.
A visitor to the site (using the Firefox browser) got the message saying the Connection is Untrusted.
Is there anything I can do to keep this from happening to other visitors to the site?
The full message on the window that came up said:
This Connection is UntrustedYou have asked Firefox to connect securely to http://www.dotstraveladventures.com, but we can’t confirm that your connection is secure.
Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site’s identity can’t be verified.Technical Details
http://www.dotstraveladventures.com uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate is only valid for the following names: *.wordpress.com , wordpress.com
(Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
The person who got this message will have received it because they were attempting to view an SSL-secured version of the site. Usually this is done by trying to view the site at https://dotstraveladventures.com rather than just using http, however there are browser settings which can be made which always attempt to load a secure version of any site.
Unfortunately the front-end version of WordPress.com sites are not available with SSL certificates. The back-end dashboard interfaces are all secured with SSLs and your information is encrypted, however it is limited to the back end only.

So it has to do with the browser settings of the person viewing the site? Or how they typed in the url? Is that correct?

It’s most likely how they typed in the URL (with the https instead of the http). If they had changed their browser settings they would probably have been aware of it and would have known to expect warnings like that.
