    This is not the domain name I selected. I choose william-wang.com but I got williamwangcom.wordpress.com instead.

    Correct account: Yes

    If you purchased the custom domain “William-wang.com” when you created your site, it may take time for it to be set as the primary domain for your site.

    You should be able to start designing your page for now.

    I have pinged the mod for support.

    Hi there, when I go to your custom domain william-wang.com I’m currently redirected to your free WordPress.com address williamwangcom.wordpress.com

    In order to set william-wang.com as your primary domain, you need to have purchased it as a part of any WordPress.com site upgrade plan or upgrade your site to at least Starter. You can learn more about that in this support guide: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/set-a-primary-address/#requirements

    I also see you only just purchased that domain. If you did purchase it as a part of a WordPress.com upgrade plan, it can take up to 72 hours for the domain to propagate through the interwebs. If you still your wordpress.com address after that, try hard refreshing your browser window or visit from a different browser or incognito window.

    Hi there!

    It appears you registered just a domain without a WordPress.com plan. A WordPress.com plan is required to be able to set a custom domain as the primary address of your site. Without a WordPress.com plan, you still own the domain, but it will redirect to the WordPress.com site address.

    There are many benefits to upgrading to a WordPress.com plan. Being able to set your custom domain as the primary address, removal of ads, increased storage space, etc., are some of them.

    If you primarily need to use the domain for now, I recommend the WordPress.com Starter plan. However, based on your site requirements, you can check out the other plans and upgrade accordingly.
