This is The Most Frustrating Thing Ever
-
I’m a tech guy. I know what I’m doing. But I cannot believe how frustrating WordPress is to use for beginners. I just want to create a blog to post all my How Tos Troubleshooting Guides etc. I have spent a few hours clicking around trying to add a page. I clicked Add a Page and it created a page that was not visible and I couldn’t find it anywhere. What’s the point of a page if it’s not visible?! It took 2 more “Add a Page” locations (you know because for some reason there’s three of them scattered around) and one of them worked but the only problem is I have NO CLUE how I got there or where it even was.
So now I have a website, with a page that’s blank but I spent the time to create the content but I can’t even view it.
Oh, and support takes 1-2 days to answer???? What kind of support business model is that?
Am I the only one who’s ready to just delete it ask for a refund and go somewhere else?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello!
You may have looked at this already, but if not, it’s quite helpful getting started: https://learn.wordpress.com/
I hope that helps, and let me know if you have any other questions!

Yes I’ve read through it all. The tutorial they give there doesn’t match what I am seeing nor what the site is actually doing.

Hi,
You may be more comfortable working from the WP Admin section. You’ll find it at the bottom of the menu. It’s a little more old school, and my preferred method due to it’s familiarity.
I hope that helps, and let me know if you have any other questions!

I got there before somehow, that’s what I mentioned above. But I can’t find any indication if it anywhere.

If you click ‘My Site’ at the very top left corner, and then at the bottom of the menu do you see the WP Admin link?

All I want is to add 1 page. This page would be called “Get Help”. Then there would be 3 sub-pages “Troubleshooting Guides” “How To’s” “Questions and Answers”.
It should be REALLY simple do something like this. The tutorial even states that creating a page will automatically show up on the site, yet when viewing it, it’s not there. It’s ghost. It tells you that you can set up subpages yet, I can’t find anything about this. I really don’t understand how WordPress is so popular. I don’t want to use something else because I KNOW that I will appreciate all the features later, but to setup is more frustrating than a “Some Assembly Required” furniture.

Hi, @acrillix,
Welcome to WordPress! It can be confusing a bit at first. I’ve been there, and am still learning. :)
I also prefer the wp-admin link that @joerepublic is helping you find.
I would bookmark it for sure, and I just go to my site and add /wp-admin to the end to get there. :)For your pages not showing up…
There is a setting in menus that will automatically add a new page. It might be worth checking, as if it isn’t clicked on, your pages won’t automatically appear:
In Customizing–> Menus –> [Choose your Menu] –> Menu Options
Automatically add new top-level pages to this menu
The above is a checkbox. Could it be that it is not checked in your case?Is this in reference to guruofthegalaxies.blog ? I just want to confirm.
Let me know if that helps or if we can point you in a more specific direction.

Thank you. I finally got the admin page. I checked Auto Add pages. Thanks. Hopefully, now I can figure this out.

:) Take a deep breath, you’ve got this.
Head back to where you clicked to add new pages (above)… my guess is the Primary Menu was checked off. Take a look.
That link @jorepublic gave you is going to be a great resource.
Don’t forget to bookmark your wp-admin page, too. :)

If a refund is the route you choose to go, see this page for details:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/refunds/There is definitely a learning curve – the support docs are really good, if you decide to give it another chance: https://en.support.wordpress.com/
