'This is the post excerpt' appears on my blog — how do I get rid of that?

This is embarrassingly lame, but — I’ve posted my first blog and the words ‘This is the post excerpt’ appear between the title and image. How do I get rid of that?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

To remove the excerpt text, navigate to your posts page. Click the Edit button on the post, which will take you to an edit screen. Near the top right of the screen, click Post Settings, then click More Options. That should reveal the Excerpt box. Remove the “This is the post excerpt” text and click the Update button near the upper right.

You were incredibly helpful — thank you.

Now, how do I get rid of the Text Widget thing on the right-hand side?

    Thanks again.

    Hi, marejer2017,

Head to your dashboard by adding /wp-admin to the end of your site’s url (e.g.: example.wordpress.com/wp-admin)

On the left-hand side you will find Appearance and under that widgets.
Click on widgets to view your options.

Your text widget should be under the Sidebar column.
Click it to edit and at the bottom is an option to delete.

    Hope this helps.
    Best,
    Christine
