Hello!
Is GoDaddy hosting your new website? If so, you can follow these instructions on how to properly change your nameservers to point to GoDaddy’s hosting:

Go Daddy Are now telling me that I need WordPress’ help changing the IP address for the domain name.
Whatever that means!
:/

I did a little research and WordPress.com does not have static IP addresses that GoDaddy can use consistently. We can set your domain with that information, but over time that IP will change. The other issue I discovered is that GoDaddy doesn’t use zone files if a domain isn’t pointing at them, but we can’t point to them without that.
What I would recommend is that you transfer your domain to GoDaddy, then you will have a much easier time configuring your new site on GoDaddy. Here’s more information on how to transfer the domain:

Blimey, I really wish I hadn’t started all of this now, really isn’t as simple as everyone makes out! One click my bum!
anyway.. sorry, thanks for finding that out, Do you have any idea if transferring the Domain will cost me any money? Will I have to use their web building tools or will it all still be on wordpress.org etc
sorry please humour me I really dont have a clue what Im doing, I just want my blog back :/

Yeah, I’ve discovered hosting websites on GoDaddy isn’t as easy as they make it seem. :(
From what I found on researching this, this support thread says it will cost $7.99 to transfer in a domain, but once the domain has successfully transferred, you get an additional year of domain registration added on for free. So your domain wouldn’t expire until January 2015 if the transfer is successful.
This thread is a year old, so I’m not sure if the $7.99 fee is still correct.
I’m not sure if you use a WordPress.org installation or if you use their web builder tools – I’ve always hosted my sites on DreamHost or WordPress.com so I’m not familiar with GoDaddy’s tools or processes.
If there’s anything I can do on our end to help you with this transfer or if you have any other questions, please let me know.
