  Hi,

  I don’t know if this is the right section to post this question, so feel free to delete it or indicate me a more proper contact.

  Well, I’m not able to access a WordPress blog anymore because “This site is marked private by its owner”.

  The fact is that the blog has been inactive for more than two years now, and it suddenly became ‘private’.

  How is that possible? Maybe a WordPress blog becomes automatically ‘private’ after a certain period of inactivity or what?

  Hi there,

  Well, I’m not able to access a WordPress blog anymore because “This site is marked private by its owner”.

  What is the site URL you are trying to access? Is it a site you once owned, or own on another WordPress.com account?

  If the site has been marked private and you have an account on that site, you can still log in but the contents aren’t visible to the public.

  How is that possible? Maybe a WordPress blog becomes automatically ‘private’ after a certain period of inactivity or what?

  We don’t make changes to sites even if they don’t appear to have been active. These changes need to be made by the user :)

  No, I’m not the owner of the blog I refer to. I used to visit the blog every once in a while until a few days ago when it has been marked as ‘private’.

  That is quite strange, for the owner has been publishing no content for two years now and it’s very unlikely he suddenly ‘reappeared’ and marked the site as private.

  If you want, I can send you the URL of the blog in private.

  Hi there,

  That is quite strange, for the owner has been publishing no content for two years now and it’s very unlikely he suddenly ‘reappeared’ and marked the site as private.

  I’m afraid I have no explanation as to why they may have done so. Owners mark their blogs as private for many reasons. Perhaps after all this time, they started to miss theirs :)
