    I am going to create a new website using word press . . Should I just build it out tan transfer the name

    Hey there @dougdockendorf, thanks for your patience on this. Do you have any particular goals with the redesign? Let us know what you have in mind and we can make any recommendations.

    Speaking generally, though, if you’ve got a live site, I would indeed recommend building the site, then transferring the name over when it’s ready.

    When I’ve moved Wix sites into WordPress.com, I’ve used the import tool. It’s not great at picking up the page layouts, but it will get the content and page structure for you in most cases. Note we have had some Wix sites that won’t import at all for whatever reason, but it’s worth a shot:

    Next, you’ll want to edit each page. You can access them here.

    The imported layout could look a bit messy, so I would recommend insert Patterns above the imported content, then copy your text into the new layout to your liking. Gallery Blocks will also be helpful for you here. Be sure to swap out any images and text as needed. You can delete sections you don’t need or add more patterns to build your page. When all of the content for a page is placed nicely, publish it and work on the next page.

    Once your pages are built out, you can use the site editor to make any needed changes to the site header, footer, layout, and styles. I’d also recommend the Premium plan, since it includes advanced styling options you may want as you finish up the site:

    When you’re done, you’ll be able to connect your domain. And you’ll have chat-based support available so we can help make sure your email settings get imported or set up properly, too.
