Java is enabled and the slide show works when logged in to the admin account.
I have also tried different browsers and operating systems and come to the same error.

It works for me and I’m running Firefox 26.1
Please work through what follows and report back.
1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html

One thing I did not include above is checking your Flash version. Confirm your Flash is updated http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ and if required installing the latest version of Flash http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
If that does not work and if you have access to another computer while you are waiting – try using it please and report what you see.

Nothing appearing in that slideshow for me in Chrome32 on a Win7 PC. I can, however, view other slideshows inserted in other sites.
Also, can you confirm that the images used in your slideshow have all been uploaded and inserted via your WordPress.com website? How many images are there? How big pixel-wise are they?
Take 2! It’s back on second visit. Makes me think that there are quite a lot of images in that slideshow.

Nope! Just a fluke.
Now I’m wondering… this is the 2nd website using Modern News in the last couple of days that seems to have errant code in the footer. Screenshot coming in a moment.
