Thought I paid for a premium, but it says I'm on the "free" one???????
-
Hi,
Last week Monday I singed up to wordpress and purchased one of the themes which cost me £52.00, for a premium one.
1) Now I am very much a beginner at this, but something said to look throughout the “Upgrade page” and see what options I had. I saw that it says I’m on the “Free – wordpress.com one, which is a little puzzling. I would really like an explanation to this, as it also say to “upgrade” there’s an additional £85.00 to pay. Ho do I activate my “Premium” site or is it not the same?2) I purchased a domain name for my website using another site, and I would really like to know how to link it to wordpress without having a …..wordpress.com or otherwise name to it? I would like to change/link it as http://www.amandacoxphotography.co.uk
3) Once all this is set up, I need some help working through setting up my website for the theme I’ve chosen as I’ve never done this before and need to get things up and running by end of this month.
I appreciate those who see it as simple, but I would like some guidance nontheless.Thank you in advance.
The blog I need help with is amandacoxphotographyuk.wordpress.com.

Hi amandacoxuk,
Our records show you bought a Premium Theme, Photographer, for your site. Although they both have Premium in the name, a Premium Theme is not the same as the WordPress.com Premium Plan.
A Premium Theme allows you to change the look and feel of your site and is a one-time upgrade cost. The price of the the theme will vary by theme.
The WordPress.com Premium Plan is a yearly cost of £85.00 and includes all the features listed here:
https://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/Premium themes are not included in the yearly fee for WordPress.com Premium. Our Business Plan for £250.00 does come with access to all Premium Themes.
We do have a 30 day refund policy on all upgrades except for domains. If you would like us to refund your Premium Theme let us know and we can reach out to you privately.
2) If you’d like to add a domain you already own you may do so by following this guide:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/There is a yearly cost of £11 or one domain is included for free with paid plan.
3) We have lots of great resources to help you get started with WordPress.com. One of my favorites is https://learn.wordpress.com
Your theme, Photographer, also has a getting started guide at:
https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/photographer/support/As well as a support forum for questions regarding the theme here:
https://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/photographerHope this helps, if you have any other questions just let us know.

Thank you very much for your reply. I now have some idea as you’ve shed some light.
I have a few more questions:
1) Now that I have a Premium Theme is it just a upgrading it for £85 for the Premium Plan or is a different price once you have a premium theme? If it’s not a different price (i.e whether I have a premium theme or no it’s still £85), can I cancel the one I have and just sign up for the Premium Plan?
2) If I get a Premium Plan, How do I link it my already existing domain name?
2a) I see that you have a list of other domain register’s website if you registered a domain name with them. The one I used is not on the list (123 reg), where can I find instructions to link/change domain to the one I’ve registered with?Regards

Hi there,
1) You are correct that it would be an additional £85 for the Premium Plan as Premium Themes and Premium Plans are separate upgrades. As you are still in the refund window we’d be happy to refund the cost of the theme. Note, that by refunding the theme you’ll lose access to the theme.
2) You will be able to use an existing domain (one you already own), simply follow this guide:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/2a) You will be able to contact the registrar or locate their support documentation regarding changing the name servers. This is a common practice for registrars so they should be able to help you out.

Thank you for you helpful responses, but after much consideration I would like to cancel and request for a refund on the Premium Theme I bought on the 8th of June. This is not what I expected for the price I’ve paid.
Regards
