"Three Adjustments On Yoko Theme"

One last question on this particular thread will be. “How do I insert
the image of YouTube on “Text” widget with a direct link to the
YouTube link? I already learned how to get this done on the “Image”
widget. Owing to the extensive use of referring YouTube links in
many of my posts, I think it will be great if you can let me know how
to duplicate the same procedure that is applied on the “Image” into
the “Text” wIdget. There got to be some kind of code. I think at
point you showed me, but I got confused and lost track. In any case,
your guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Rafiq, here are a couple links to our support documents on Text widget and how to create Text Widget Links.

I am confused again. I remember you sending me these links before,
but I cannot make it to work on “Text” Widget. In fact, what I did was
to take the code from “Share – Embed” and paste it on the widget.

    <iframe width=”420″ height=”315″ src=”//www.youtube.com/embed/dyxp1LaStrQ” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>

Now, the part that I cannot understand is that, “If you use an image as the link, it should look similar to:” I am not smart enough to catch
    this point, my friend.

What you want to use for the URL is the actual URL of the page the Youtube video is on (out of your browser address bar).

Yes, that is what I have done in my post as you can see from the two
YouTube links. What I want is a still image like the one what is on
the “Image” widget with URL in the back. That is what I mean to say.

The reason I want to achieve the widget of image effect is owing to
my usage of many YouTube links on this blog. What I fear is the
massive slow down if I continue to add more and more YouTube
links. The one on the Image widget saves time and it is an easy click
straight to the YouTube link when someone clicks on the image only.

Just curious as to why you don’t continue with the Image Widgets? They are much easier to work with than text widgets, and were created just for this reason.

With text widgets, just like with image widgets, you will have to get the images you wish to use and upload them to your media library. The images should be uploaded at the final size used in the widget (290px wide by 90px tall). As is mentioned in the Text Widget Links document, the easiest way to create the code is to use the post or page editor. You insert the image as full-size into the post and during the process, you add in the URL to the page where the Youtube video is. You then switch to the text tab in the editor, copy out the code and paste it into the content area on the text widget, give it a title and click save.

    My Good Friend,

Here is where I keep missing it.

    1. I understand inserting the image into the post …

    2. Now, how do I add in the URL to the page where the YouTube video
is? The question is, where to I insert the URL, underneath the image
or next to the actual image.

    3. I can understand switching to the text tab and copy out the code.
What I do not understand is to “give it a title and click save.”

Sorry for continuing to request for clarification. Sometimes the brain
are not wired properly when it becomes a little complicated.

Hmmm, ok, the text widget links document has changed. When you insert the image into the draft post, you can enter the youtube URL into the “links URL field in the insert image window. See here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/image-links/ .

Sorry for not checking the Text Widget Links document more closely.
