Three days of blog updates, GONE!
-
I’ve just recently started a new blog through wordpress and for some reason it keeps drastically altering any editing I do to the theme and widgets. Now it has reverted to the original theme I chose 4 or 5 days ago and deleted all the tags, categories, widgets, and my most recent post.
I’ve lost about 3-4 days worth of work on this blog.
What is going on?!?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

How to apply changes to theme

Dec 6, 2013, 3:36 PMI have updated my theme several times, but when I go to the actual web address (beyoutifullyimperfect.wordpress.com) the changes I have made are not applied. I have customized it to have a picture that I’ve downloaded to be the background and my text is red and white; but when i go to the actual url…the changes have not update. Can someone tell me what is going on? Kinda frustrating.
The blog I need help with is beyoutifullyimperfect.wordpress.com.

Dec 6, 2013, 3:38 PMDo you have the Custom Design upgrade? The Customizer is really just a free preview of what you can do IF you have that upgrade.

If you have not purchased the custom design upgrade note that no changes you try out aside from those such as Custom Background, Custom Header, etc. which are stated on the theme description pages in the features column (right hand side) will be visible to visitors.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/editing-css/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-fonts/You do not need to load the design tools unless you have the Custom Design upgrade. All of these functions can be accessed from your dashboard – without loading the custom design tools – no upgrade required.
Appearance > Header
Appearance > Background
Appearance > Theme Options (applicable only to some themes)
Settings > Reading (set a static front page)
Site Title and Tagline > Settings > GeneralIf you are using the preview mode for the Custom Design upgrade some of the settings in that mode will save but they won’t show up on the front end unless you purchase the upgrade.
To go back to the free options, go to Appearance → Themes → Customize → Colors and click the “exit the preview” link in yellow at the top of the panel on the right.
If you use one of these 8 free themes there are free color customizations available to you. http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2013/12/04/awesome-theme-options/

I’m sorry I made an error when copying and pasting above. Start reading where the bold lettering begins please.

It’s annoying to have a bunch of customizing disappear, but an entire post has gone missing and my links to it from social media are broken now…
Here is the once-functional link to the second post…

I only used a free theme and widgets for customization, and they appeared to work for a few days. Then I logged on today and it asked me to verify my e-mail (the same way that it prompts you when you first create your profile) and all my settings reverted to the day I created it. :/

Is it in your Drafts or in your Trash?
If the post was created on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New then you ought to be able to recover a lost post or page from revisions if needs be.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/
See also if applicable > restoring from trash http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash(If you are referring to a Page then see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-revisions/)
But if the post was created here http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ there is no means of recovery as the auto-save is not functioning there.
Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New
The auto-save works there and the post will be Standard post format unless you change it.Do not create posts here > http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ where the auto-save is not working and where you are creating an Aside post format.
Use an offline blog editor so you have backups on your own computer http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/

Yes. I just went ahead and did all the blog formatting again and re-edited and posted the article.
-
I’m sorry, I am confused. “Yes” you are still seeing the issue meaning you are still having problems? Or “yes”, the post has remained gone and you just ended up reposting it.
-
Yes the issue persisted, so I re-edited and re-posted everything I had previously done. It is currently functional again, for the time being. Not because the original problem was fixed, but because I did everything again and it has (thus far) accepted the updates without them simply disappearing again.
-
Okay, so it is unlikely that the old post will return. But please keep me updated on if you see that issue again.
