Three Front Page Widgets not appearing

Hi there!
Could someone please please help?
I have read every support thread on front page widgets and have created them correctly but they’re not showing up. Something must be wrong: I can create and edit the three front page widgets in the normal editor (yet they still don’t show up) but when I select to go to the Customizer (where you edit on the left hand side of the screen and see immediate changes on your blog on the right), the options to create three front page widgets isn’t even there (even though I have created them before in the normal editor).
I am completely stumped. Please help!!

Also, my feature image on the front page doesn’t look like the Sela demo at all? How do I get it to span the entire width of the page? Or generally be bigger?

From Quick specs:
The featured image on the front page and on pages works best with images at least 1180 wide.
Featured Images for posts should be at least 820 wide by 312.

Great I got the image size to work a bit better. Will work on it some more. Do you have any advice on my first post? (copied below)
