Thumbnail codes for pictures get stripped out
-
Hi, just wondering if anyone else is having this problem. I’ve noticed for the past two days that whenever I paste in the html thumbnail codes for photos, after I’ve saved a couple, the pictures disappear when I view them. When I checked the html code, it appears that WordPress stripped them out.
This is kinda hit and miss – some are initially fine, then later on, disappear. And affect photobucket, twitpic or even image shack. I’ve had to go back in and repair the codes everytime I save or re-save a post and honestly, it’s getting irritating.
And all the codes are plain html and do display fine immediately, but when I add other thumbnails, the whole thing gets messed up. Is it just me?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

For example:
the code is:
but, after a couple of updates, the code is stripped and ends up as:
‘<img />‘
-
I would suggest using the procedure here in this support document using the post editor: http://support.wordpress.com/links/text-widget-links/ .
-
the actual code for the twitpic image is
<a href="http://twitpic.com/93z99" title="With Los tres hermanos!! First tweet pic ...whoooooo at the s... on Twitpic"><img src="http://twitpic.com/show/thumb/93z99.jpg" width="150" height="150" alt="With Los tres hermanos!! First tweet pic ...whoooooo at the s... on Twitpic"></a>
I tested it out and this code works fine. Another alternative is you could right click the image, save to your computer and upload them in edit post. but, on the twitpic page http://twitpic.com/93z99 theres a button that says “post this photo on your website” click that and they give you the code. -
Yes, that is the code I was writing. I just didn’t know how to put it in a box like aw1923 did for here. And I get all the html codes from photobucket and twitpic and all that.
The codes work FINE when I’ve first inputted it in. And I go refresh the page, and I see ALL the thumbnail pictures FINE. BUT, after I’ve added a couple more pictures in or text or update the page in any way, wordpress strips off all the code. This only happens with thumbnails for some strange reason. And only for the past two days. I’ve never had problems before. I know it’s not me or the code, since as I’ve said, it’s hit and miss, some get stripped, others don’t, and it’s only happened lately. I’m really frustrated.

If you go to settings > writing and make sure that “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” is selected and click “save changes,” and then use the post editor to write your widget code then wordpress will automatically correct any HTML errors that might sneak in on you.

@ thesacredpath,
Oh, I’ve had that checked ages ago. Thanks anyway.
I’ll probably just stop posting thumbnail pictures in the meantime. It’s really irritating to have to play hide-and-seek, first all the pitures are there, then after some time, they all disappear.
I hope a mod or someone with wordpress would have some ideas for me eventually.

Code disappearing from a widget when saved typically means there is an error (or the code isn’t allowed). The setting at settings > writing does not correct code in the text widgets.

@ thesacredpath
I don’t see what error there is or the code being not allowed. I’ve posted thumbnails for photobucket pictures for ages in many of my posts, and it’s only lately that the code keeps getting stripped out. I don’t see photobucket suddenly changing their html codes for thumbnails.

I took the code aw1923 posted, pasted it into the post editor HTML tab, saved the draft post, and this is the “corrected code” that the editor produced.
<a title="With Los tres hermanos!! First tweet pic ...whoooooo at the s... on Twitpic" href="http://twitpic.com/93z99"><img src="http://twitpic.com/show/thumb/93z99.jpg" alt="With Los tres hermanos!! First tweet pic ...whoooooo at the s... on Twitpic" width="150" height="150" /></a>Paste both into a plain text editor and compare how things are arranged.

@ thesacredpath,
thanks, but it still got stripped out after I hit the “update” button several times.
A temporary workaroud that seems to be working right now is that I switch to Visual mode before I press update. That seems to keep all the thumbnails in place. I switch back to text editor mode to add the codes, then back to Visual before saving. So far, all thumbnails haven’t disappeared on me yet/ code stripped out by doing it this way.
