thumbnail full-size
-
my question is very simple: I use the theme Contempt, and I’d like to post on the frontpage a thumbnail, and inside the post a bigger picture. If I choose at add picture in the library “thumbnail”, it will be shown inside the post a thumbnail, or I choose the full-size, both views show me the full size. I’ve tried to insert
<img src=”http://xxx.wordpress.com/files/2008/12/pic1.jpg?w=128″ width=”128″ height=”92″ class=”alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-41″ />
<–more–>
<img src=”http://xxx.wordpress.com/files/2008/12/pic1.jpg?w=128″ width=”128″ height=”92″ class=”alignleft size-fullsize wp-image-41″ />
but in the post inside are both pics: small and big.
Somebody knows how I can get it?
Thx! -
the second row is:
<img src=”http://xxx.wordpress.com/files/2008/12/pic1.jpg?w=128″ width=”204″ height=”300 class=”alignleft size-fullsize wp-image-41″ />different sizes…

Please make sure you include your blog’s URL when you post a question, or link your nickname to your blog as explained in the Sticky “8 Things to Know”.
Upload and insert the image as a thumbnail, then use its URL this way for the full-size image:
<img src="URL_HERE">
Or, if the original is wider than the mail column of the theme you’re using:
<img src="URL_HERE" width="440"></a>
(440 is the maximum for Contempt.) -
This ist the problem: I load separately files for the thumb and big one, look this:
http://nighttalker.files.wordpress.com/2008/12/sc.jpgWhat I mean, it’s possible to use a thumbnail only in the summary on the frontpage, not inside the post?

The more tag separates the actual beginning of a post from the rest of the post. What you want is the “Excerpt” (an independent summary); unfortunately at present this works with very few themes only, and Contempt isn’t one of them.

Blix, Fauna, Flower Power, Hemingway, Supposedly Clean, Sweet Blossoms.
(With a reservation in case something changed with WP 2.7 – not likely, though.)

I didn’t think so either, but this question got me thinking to try it:

I just copied a random picture in there, so the pic opens to another article, but I’ll edit it to open a larger image.

Click the title of the post in the exerpt. That will take you to your post, where you will have your large picture ready to see.

@Tess: Ah, in the Archives page. That’s a different story. I’m talking about the front page.
@nighttalker: If it works, it doesn’t matter if Tess’ example isn’t identical to what you’re looking for. The point is the function, not what you choose to display in the excerpt and in the actual post.

Right, the archive pages. I got so excited that it worked I forgot.
And the software won’t let you display 0 posts so readers would be forced to look at archives only.Anyway panaghiotisadam thanks for the inspiration.

“And the software won’t let you display 0 posts so readers would be forced to look at archives only.”
(Or categories.) You can achieve that if you use a static front page.
