thumbnail post display on home page
-
I have a wordpress.com blog and am using the Matala theme. Please can you tell me how I can have my posts show up in a thumbnail version – as you can see on my site http://liveyourlifebuythebook.wordpress.com/ I have to scroll down a lot to see previous posts – when i want to see as many as possible so that visitors can easily see the last 7 books i have reviewed. Is this possible with Matala? much like a friends site http://joyfullyjay.com/

Hi there!
The site that you linked to is using the More tag to abbreviate their posts so you click through to read more. You would need to edit your existing posts to add this, and here’s more information on the More tag and how to set it up:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/You could also switch to a more magazine-type theme that will have featured images, then a link to read the story. Here’s our current list of free and paid magazine-type themes:
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/magazine/Suburbia and Origin are great free themes that might work well with your book reviews. You can always try them out by going to Appearance -> Themes and clicking preview to see what it will look like on your site. If you’re not already using Featured Images for your posts, you might need to add them for some of these themes.
I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

So I have done the “more” tag – now I want to know is there any way the enitire post can be enclosed in a box, or frame – it would just neaten it up to look at http://liveyourlifebuythebook.wordpress.com/

sorry one last question (hopefully) when I click on the “read more” link it doesn’t take me to the top of the page – any idea how i can achieve this?

It looks like you changed themes – the new theme, when you click “read more” will take you to the top of the post. The only problem with using the More tag – as you discovered – is that clicking the link will take you to the part of the page where you inserted the tag.

Since you have the Custom Design upgrade, you can add this bit of CSS to your CSS editor under Appearance -> Customize -> CSS. Just paste this below the existing text to add a 1px black border around each post:
.post { border: 1px solid #000000 !important; }You can adjust the color from black (#000000) to a color of your choice if you have the hex code for it already.
If you need further customization advice, I highly recommend our CSS Customization forums where you can get expert advice on customizing your site. Here’s the link to this forum:
