Thumbnail problem
-
Hello!
I have a problem with thumbnail pictures. I am using the Cubic theme on my site. When I make a new post the program just randomly chooses whatever picture for thumbnail picture when I always want the first picture on the actual page to be the thumbnail picture. I don’t want to use the “Featured image” setting because it adds another disgusting picture on the page that shows up way too large that does not fit the design at all.
Is there any way to control the thumbnail picture so that it is always the first picture on the page that shows in the first page?
Here is the site:

Thank you very much!

If featured image isn’t set, display colored block on blog page
If your post doesn’t have a featured image but does include images, Cubic will display the first image attached to the post. If you prefer only featured images to be displayed, check the box. https://wordpress.com/theme/cubic

Timethief, thank you for your reply. However, the Cubic does not show the first picture on the the first page but some random picture. Is there something wrong with it? At least it is driving me crazy because I can not control even the basic features.
I don’t want the featured image but the first picture on the menu. How can I do that?
Thank you!

Here is an example. The thumbnail picture on the menu page is not the same as the first picture on the actual page.
What is causing this?

Hi there,
The front page displays the first image attached to the post, not the first image added to the post. If the first image appearing in the post had previously been uploaded to another post, it will be attached to the older post, and not the current one, so can’t be used as the current post’s thumbnail.
The only way to control which image is used is by setting a featured image, as @timethief indicated. If you don’t want the featured image to be visible in the single post view, you can hide it via My Sites ->Customize ->Content Options.

Thank you so much for your help! The problem is now resolved and I would not have never found out the right way to do it. Thank you! Have a nice weekend everybody!

We’re just lucky that I figured out Cubic only last week for a new site I started :D
