Is this your blog: http://joshidaniel.wordpress.com/2008/12/
Just a heads-up, it helps to provide a link when asking a question.
“Go into your dashboard -> users -> your profile -> then scroll down to ‘contact info’. In the spot where it says ‘website’ fill in the address of your blog and save the changes.
Now… when you comment here and on other blogs, your name will link to your blog. If you do this before you post your request for help, it will allow forum volunteers to be able to help you quicker since they won’t have to ask you for a link and wait until you come back to post one.”
from https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/7-things-to-know-before-posting-in-wordpresscom-forums?replies=1Sounds like “excerpts” are what you are talking about. Unfortunately, you would have to change themes.
Some themes support “excerpts” but I my experiments with “Black-LetterHead” seem to indicate that it doesn’t. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/i-cant-see-my-pictures-in-the-categories-page?replies=6#post-283101Here is how I’m using them:
http://1tess.wordpress.com/2008/11/A few themes can display “excerpts” on the front page. (mine are only displayed as archived pages.)
This one, for example, though she doesn’t put thumbnails into her excerpts she could:

As to doing it with CSS, perhaps some else can answer? I suspect you couldn’t because CSS would not change the structure of your theme.

Hey first of all thanks for the link addition information.
I was looking for something like that which comes with the theme “Monotone”.
I am also not sure if it can be done with CSS editing.
Anyway thanks a lot and wishing you a happy new year :) -
I’m sure you checked out the gallery feature on wp.com blogs? This article shows off its features brilliantly: http://gammagirl.wordpress.com/2008/07/27/not-the-official-wordpresscom-gallery-faq/
Most likely, you should check out WordPress.org. You have a lot more choices for themes you can use, downloading from many sites, and all. Though it looks technical to me.
Best of the new year to you as well.
