Thumbnails in square tile galleries shown distorted

  I am trying to use the Square Tile gallery. When setting this up, the pictures are cropped to be square in the Edit tab, but the images are distorted horizontally (squashed/stretched) in the Preview tab and published page.

  This makes the images look odd. They are fine if you click on the thumbnail and show them individually.

  I am using the Didi theme. I have CSS licensing.

  Is there are setting that means that the thumbnails do not distort the image, but only crop it?

  I can’t show you this, as I do not want to publish distorted thumbnails on my live site.

  I think I have found a way to avoid this issue. I did some reading around and tried a couple of things.

  The trick is to delete the file properties, which can be done through Windows Explorer, and then it seems OK. The thumbnails are not stretched or squashed.

  Apologies, but to be clear I deleted the file properties on the stored image files and then added them to my media library again before using them.
