Thumbnails in theme: Hemingway
-
Hi, I am really a newbie on WordPress. Most of the stuff I figured out on my own, but I can’t solve this problem on my own.
Here’s the thing; On my homepage of my weblog i want to post thumbnails/pictures next to my post (text) like you can see on most of the weblogs here. But when I upload a picture and put it in the text it shows up, only when I click on “read on” or on the post-title. Does anyone has a solution?
My weblog is hanslive.wordpress.com
Thanks
(P.S. Sorry for my bad English, I am from the Netherlands so my spelling or grammar could be incorrect.)

When you write a post underneath that post there is an option to put in another choice of what you want to appear on the fron page.
It is called an Excerpt.
When you are writing a post and have uploaded a thumbnail or orginial image and are happy with it… go to the html and open that. Then in there you should see where the image is then just copy and past that into the excerpt.
An image in html should look like this …<img scr=then the url etc.
Copy and past that into the excerpt along with any text that you want to show up on the front page… remember that once you have chosen your excerpt that this will override the normal 10 lines or so hemingway give you… so effectively you can have the whole post on the front if you want… and choose carefully the most interesting part of your post without giving everything away… because your goal is to get people to click to the full post.
Generally most people will know if they read one or two small paragraphs of material if they are iterested in it or not. So choose carefully.
Hope this helps

Now another thing ;).. how can I get my text wrapped around the picture??
And living Journey how did you get the link “read more” under your post on the frontpage?

I am not sure how to get the text wrapped around the picture in the excerpt part to show on the front. In fact I don’t think you can by memory, and you can’t put a youtube in the front page of your blog either.
But you can do it on the actual post. That is in the FAQ section.
And to get the ‘read more’ link… is a bit of mucking around.
First you have to publish the post so you can copy the url of the new post.
Then open up edit to that post, using the rich text editor go to the end of your post and type in ‘Read more of this post’… highlight it, then add the link to the already published post. Just like you would do any other link!
Open up your html and scroll down to the end and find where you have put that link, just cut to copy (making sure that you cut it out of the original before you repost it)
Now you have the link copied… just paste it into the excerpt at the end of your little teaser. Then save/publish once more.
Like I said it is a bit of mucking about but give people three access points in which to read further, some people need to be pointed in the right direction more directly I believe.
I hope this helps.
