Thumbnails not showing in media library
-
Hi,
My photographs are not showing up in the media library, which is making it near-impossible to create galleries. The thumbnails are showing up as tiny little squares. They are the right resolution (as far as I can tell) and I’m using the SoHo theme (if that helps).
Thanks,
Rebecca

Hi there. This could be a browser issue. Please try clearing your browser cache and cookies and see if that helps: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
Also please try resetting your modem/router in case your connection might be the cause.

This issue seems specific to this one site and not related to browser or router.
As another administrator of this site at another location, I see the same odd images — but only for this site! When I look at other sites, I see the expected thumbnails.
These images are actually microscopic thumbnails. The effect occurs only in grid view and when inserting images, but the thumbnails look right in the library list view.

Could you please try making a screenshot of what you’re seeing? https://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/
Upload your screenshot to your media library or an online hosting service like CloudUp or snag.gy and then paste the URL of the image here so we can see what you see.

Hi! This one took me a minute, but I think I see the culprit:
https://phoblographer.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-media.phpLook at the specified image sizes: 6×4 pixels is pretty tiny.
Bear in mind, these are pixels rather than inches … and there can be around 300 pixels per inch depending on the display.
Can you go ahead and specify more reasonable sizes in pixels? I wouldn’t go smaller than 600×400.
