    We have recently designed a new website through Wix.com and migrated our website address to Wix (www.ucsbpanhellenic.com). However, we recently came across an issue of not being able to access the website due to an error that seems to be produced by WordPress’ mapping issues.

    We are able to access the website through an external link (ex. Google search), but are not able to access the website by using the link. Please assist us in fixing this issue ASAP. This is time-sensitive.

    I’m sorry you haven’t heard back on this in a few days. I have added the modlook tag to this thread to make sure that staff takes a look as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience as you await a reply.

    In the meantime, I have done a little digging and from what I can tell it looks like your domain ucsbpanhellenic.com may have expired and is in a status known as redemption. If you registered that domain through us, you can renew it via the Manage Purchases page:

    Please note, you’ll need to take immediate action on this or you may risk losing the domain. Once the domain has been renewed, you can set the nameservers to point to Wix.com by following the instructions found here:

    Thank you for your prompt response. Is there anyway that you guys can release the domain so that it’s available for purchase to public?

    We’d rather purchase the domain through Wix so that we manage all components of the website under one platform and not worry about issues like these in the future.

    I was just reading my first message and it appears that WordPress automatically generated + attached the sentence, “The blog I need help with is panhelvpe.wordpress.com.”

    Just to clarify, the website I need assistance with is http://www.ucsbpanhellenic.com, not panhelvpe.wordpress.com.

    Please let me know if WordPress can release the domain (www.ucsbpanhellenic.com) so that we can renew it through a different platform. Also, although we own the domain, the domain does not appear on our account for whatever reason.

    If you decide not to renew the domain through us and the domain is not picked up at purchased at auction, the domain will eventually be released (after about 90 days) into the public pool of domain names so you can repurchase it there on a first-come, first-serve basis. Unfortunately, this option is not without its risks. As the following link explains:

    It is common for back-order companies to wait for domains to be released and purchase them the moment they become available. There may also be another individual who likes the domain waiting to buy it.

    The less risky method would be to renew the domain via WordPress.com and then to transfer the domain to Wix.com by following these instructions:

    Since this is time-sensitive, we think renewing the domain with WordPress and transferring it to Wix would be the most viable option at this time.

    We are not seeing an option to renew. In fact, we do not even see the web address in our account. How do we go about renewing this domain?

    Hi there,

    I checked with our registrar and ucsbpanhellenic.com is now in a redemption period. It expired back on 8/3. You can still renew your domain through us, but it is now a more expensive and complicated process to do so. Our registrar charges an $80 late renewal fee in addition to the $26 we charge to renew the domain. The good news is that this is still a chance of reclaiming the domain through this option.

    Your other option is to wait until the redemption period is over so that the domain becomes available for registration again. Domains are usually in redemption for approximately 80 days, but with this option, you run
    the risk of someone else jumping in front of you to purchase the domain before you get the chance.

    Please let me know if you want to proceed with paying the late renewal fee in the attempt to reclaim the domain name. This option is also time sensitive because the domain can be auctioned off to an expired domain bidder.

    I would suggest enabling the auto-renew option so that you will not have to worry about losing control over your domain in the future.
