Time Stamp for Free Themes
-
I was told that some themes display time stamps and some don’t and unless you pay and put in the code you can’t change this. But I am browsing all the free themes and I can’t find a single one that displays the time stamp. Are there NO themes that have it? Is the only way to display it to pay for a more expensive theme or pay so much a year for the theme you have to be able to enter the code?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s correct. There is no feature filter you can use in the themes showcase. there is an outdated list here https://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/24/posting-time-displayed/

Thanks for the link. The outdated list doesn’t help, but I followed the directions for trying to change it under settings. It didn’t work though. :(
So does no one know if there is even ONE theme that will display the time stamp without having to pay? This just seems ridiculous to me that you can’t have a time stamp unless you pay to be able to enter code.

Nothing is preventing you from typing the time of publication on the first line in the body of the text in any theme. As for me, my Readers are from all over the world and they could care less about the timestamp on any post I publish. The publication dates are embedded into all post URLs.

I went to Settings, General, selected “Custom” under time format and put in this code: “F j, Y at g:i A” so it should display it “July 25, 2014 at 12:26 PM” but it doesn’t show up that way. Why do they give you the option if it doesn’t work? So frustrating!

I realize I can type it in each time, but it’s a hassle. I have a bunch of posts I want to import as well and so unless I want to edit them all and type the time in I would lose the time stamp on all of them. Glad you don’t want/need it, but I do and I think it should be an option.

The only theme I found with it is called Academica. I’m not all the way through the list, though….
-
No, you need to TYPE IT INTO THE CONTENTS OF THE BLOG POST.
Or you need to pick a post that does this automatically.

Other free themes that show timestamps:
Eighties (not a precise timestamp. It shows “posted x hours ago,” which gives you some idea of time)
Bushwick
Pilcrow
