Time Zone help?

Hello! I just tried to change the Timezone settings on my blog, and for some reason, it won’t let me change my time zone to EST. Can you help? Thank you so much!

  • That’s because the time zone settings on your dashboard uses Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), the international standard for time zones, as opposed to the US time zones.

Places that use Eastern Standard Time (EST) when observing standard time (autumn/winter) are 5 hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC−05:00).

Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), when observing daylight saving time (spring/summer) is 4 hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC−04:00). – Wikipedia

So, seeing as it’s summer there you’ll want to set it to UTC-04:00.

Alternatively, if you scroll up in that menu you’ll find a list of cities organised by continent. Find the closest city in your time zone and select that. I’m guessing if you select a city the site will automatically adjust your time zone for daylight savings, but I’m not sure.

  • P.S. If you’re in a zone that doesn’t observe daylight savings it will be UCT-05:00. I see only the northern part of the region has daylight savings.
