timing on articles

Is it possible to insert a time and date into pieces Im uploading? Basically I need to repost articles from a few years ago as the website they were on has been deleted… but the event clearly wasn’t in 2018 so I wanted to put the time/date from when they were first posted. Is this possible?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, yes, you can backtrack WordPress.com posts. Learn more here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/schedule-a-post/#republishing-a-post

The piece has not appeared through wordpress before… the rescheduling is fine but it would class as a new post… is it still possible to put a date of may 2014 there?

  • Hi there,

You can publish a new post and backdate it, yes. Just click the schedule option and set the date in the past where you want the post to appear.

Just keep in mind that if you have email subscribers on your site they’ll get a notification of every backdated post, as these are still new posts on the site. The same goes if you have Publicize set up – these posts will still share to Facebook, Twitter, etc, depending what services you have connected, unless you specifically disable it for the post.

To avoid any notifications from going out at all, you’ll need to set the site to private, publish the post, and then set it back to public.
