No. Start your own threads if it is not the same issue. Do not hijack existing threads.
There are several threads in the Off Topic forum for blog promotion and post promotion.

I think a lot of folk go at this ass backwards. I think the point of blogging is well – blogging. If you are a good blogger traffic and links follow. If you are not they won’t. But questions like *how do I get more traffic* put the cart before the horse. It is a tough question but people need to ask *why the heck should anyone even want to visit their blog?*. :)

I’m not offended. I’m used to enforcing forum etiquette and don’t get emotional about it. I suggest when someone corrects you that you try to take it without emotion either. It’s not personal.
“Poke me” aka “Go visit my blog!” is not the same issue as “how do I get the word out about my site?” As I said, there are several “Go visit my blog” type threads in the Off Topic forum. The proper action now is to go there and make the post there.

I thought ” poke me” meant “tag me”
just like what they do in facebook where a friend tries to get your attention by “poking” you….
getting my attention not necessarily saying to visit me….geez….it just shows what a newbie I am in blogging and social networking too….

@bitterexwifes: You are only half way there. If you look at your members profile here you can add the url of your blog. That way everytime you post if anyone clicks on your name – they go – autoomattically – to woot woot – your blog. How cool is that?:) Then in the unlikely event we say anything interesting folk can go direct to our blogs. :)

We all have two profiles at wordpress.com. One on our blogs and one here in the forum.Here’s how to link your username to your blog in your blog -> Users -> Profile
In the right hand column locate “Website” and type in the link to your wordpresss.com blog example: http://myblog.wordpress.comP.S. Read what abbydoncrafts has to say. I agree with him whole-heartedly https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=13930&page&replies=10#post-101176
Linking your username to your wp.com blog in the forum
(1) Go up to the top right hand corner of this forum page and look for “Welcome,_________ ! View your profile” and click “View your profile”.(2) Next click “edit this information”.
(3) Complete the fields being sure that where it says website that you enter http://insertyourblognamehere.wordpress.com (no period at the end or the link won’t work)
(4) Once you’re done click “Update Profile”. Voila! Now every time you sign into the forum we can click on your username and your blog will be linked to it.
(5) Also note that there is a complete record of every post that you make to the forum on your forum profile page. Everyone in the forum can access it by simply clicking on “Member” next to your username. :)
