Title and heading enquiry
-
I would like to ask a question.
Is the title also the H1 heading when creating a post in WordPress?
I have noticed that when I enter the title then, enter a heading further down the post, the first option is automatically the H2 heading option, and the H1 option is in a red boarder block.
Does that mean that WordPress automatically makes the title the H1 heading or should I enter a H1 heading myself at the top of the post.I have been entering my title, then meta tag (description snippet) under the title then I would add an H1 then continue with the post.
Is this correct or Am I landing up entering a second H1 heading without knowing it?I know for SEO I should have a title, meta tag (description) 1x H1 1x H2 ECT. But I have been assuming that the WordPress title is seperate from the H1. So I add a title then an H1 after description.
I just need confirmation that I have not added a second H1 without knowing it.
Thanks for any feedback

Hello Donovan,
Yes, the title tag is an H1.
If you are concerned about SEO and accessibility, I would recommend using only one H1 tag on a page therefore start with the H2 heading since WordPress.com makes the title an H1. -
Okay thank you for clearing that up. Now I must go change all my headings because I would have two H1. Thanks for the advice.
