Title Bar Won't Go

    Hello everyone!
    I’d be so grateful for some help.

    After 4 years of plain sailing, my wordpress site which uses the Sparrow and Snow Selkie theme has developed a problem I can’t fix.
    I logged in last night and the page editor seemed different. When I went to make a change to my Welcome Page, the page title was at the top of the editor and everything else was raw code. I changed the piece of text I came to fix, updated it and now my Welcome Page has a huge white space and the words ‘Home Page’ across it in big letters.

    Until now my layout has meant that my main header image reaches all the way to the menu. This has totally disfigured. I’ve tried every solution I could find:

    1. I’ve simply removed the text in the page editor – the words were gone but the white space remained
    2. I’ve installed a plugin which allows you to hide the page title – the words were gone but the white space remained
    3. I’ve added code to the Custom CSS field in the Customizer to hide all page titles – the words and white space remained
    4. I’ve added code to the Custom CSS field in the Customizer to hide the title on the specific page which is a problem – the words and white space remained

    I’m so frustrated. Could anyone offer some advice?

    Can you share the link to your site?

    I ask because I think your site may be using the WordPress.org software and it may be hosted elsewhere. On this forum, we can directly help with WordPress.com sites only. For WordPress.org sites, you’d either need to contact your hosting service provider, the relevant theme/plugin support if that’s where the issue comes from, or post on the WordPress.org community forum here: https://wordpress.org/support/forums

    Since you mentioned that using the Sparrow and Snow Selkie theme you’re facing the problem, I’d suggest contacting the theme support first. If they aren’t able to provide further help, please post on the WordPress.org forum linked above.
