Title not displaying with Static front page

  I am just settign up a new site. I want to have a static page as the main page on the site, I have managed to do this eay enough by chaging the Reading Settings to the page I want.
  My problem is that when I change it to a static page the title dissapears from the web browser, this happens in both Firefox and IE.
  When I revert back to “Your latest posts” and visit the page I want to be the static front page the title now displays as it shoudl in the browser bar.

  Can anyone shed any light on this for me please.
