  Yes, because I copied/pasted and created a new post, and deleted the original post that had the problem. So I solved it by just making a new one, which is the one you’re seeing now.

  My friend had done the other post, and it came out all in italics (even though it wasn’t italicized in the visual editor), and without a title. Did she somehow create the wrong kind of post?

  Ah, that makes sense! I took a look at the original deleted post your friend created. That post was created with the Aside post format, which is why the title was missing and it was formatted differently. (Posts with this format are meant to be brief snippets of text rather than full-length posts.) You can read more about post formats here: Post Formats
