title of post not showing

The title for today’s blog post does not show up when I look at it in preview mode or live in Reader. I see it in my editing mode. Help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Howdy!

That particular post was set to the “Aside” type, which is meant for shorter, posts where titles don’t matter as much. You’ll want to change it to Standard.

You can change this by editing the post at https://susanfriedlandsmith.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=780&action=edit and changing the type on the right-side, then clicking Update.

The option will look like this: http://d.pr/i/bd6P

Please let me know if you have any questions or need anything else. Cheers!

Wonderful, Thanks! I would have never figured that out on my own.

Next question: I’m having people write guest posts. I am new to all this. I don’t necessarily want to add them on to blog as a contributor since it’s probably like a one time thing. Is there a way to change the byline to the guest’s name or do I need to go through the procedure of inviting them via email, etc.?

  • Hi Susan,

You will need to invite them to your blog. Another, less-than-ideal compromise would be to create a new account yourself and give it a name “Guest Blogger” or something that fits for you.

You could change the byline to that author when posting a guest post.

You can change the author assigned to each blog on the post editor page (same place as before), further down on the page. If that isn’t present, you may need to click on the “Screen Options” drop down at the top-right of the page and check the Author box.

    Cheers!
