There is no access to metadata on our WordPress.com hosted blogs. That is why our choice of keywords in the URL, Site Title and Tagline are of paramount importance. Otherwise Google determines what is displayed. See: http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2009/06/22/creating-an-effective-blog-tagline/

I checked the meta description tag in Tonal and it is closed (it’s self-closing and the part of the code that makes that work looks like this: “/>”

I also found that it appears in the right place (inside “head” in the HTML).

  • Hi Gail,

I see what you mean. The description meta tag usually includes your tagline and byline. But some of the CSS you’ve added is causing it to pick up text from your front page instead.

I didn’t want to remove any of your CSS, because I wasn’t sure what you were going for with it, but it looks like you used CSS to both hide your tagline (site-description) and then display it again. I’d take out any CSS having to do with site-description, make sure the meta tag is fixed, and then address whatever style changes you wanted to make.

Let me know if you need further help!
