TITLE within header photo.

I noticed that on at least one blog, the title was part of the header photo. How does one achieve this? Thanks… F
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I’m not sure what you mean, Do you have a link to an example of what you mean by a blog that has the title as part of the header photo?
Thanks for the additional info!

Jerry. Thanks…
Here are three. I’d like to put my TITLE over (within) my header.

And you’d like to do the same, but with the theme you have chosen? Is it going to be difficult but not impossible.
Do you mean you wish you have the text of your site appear over the image that is in these slider right now, or do you wish to have an additional image behind the text that is there now?
Thanks!

Jerry – I really appreciate your time. I am still in the throes of pulling my whole idea together. Not even up to ‘novice’ yet. So things are in flux. I wanted to have the title appear OVER the existing image. Not use an additional image. I am not wed to my theme choice either. So many to choose from. You used the word ‘slider’ and I read about ‘content slider’ but couldn’t find a definition in the LINGO section. Can you fill me in? Thanks, Jerry.

No problem, we all have to start somewhere. I certainly was not born a WordPress.com expert. :)

Gotcha. The reason I said “difficult but not impossible.” is that your existing image is in the slider area (your theme has one) and not in the header (where the text is now) so getting one to appear over the other is not easy.
Since you asked, a content slider (“slider” for short) is something you find on the homepage of your site, and it acts a lot like a slideshow, except it contains blog posts. Here is an example of one:

Now you mentioned not being sold on your theme currently, and because of that, I recommend that you focus on picking a theme you like first first, as anything custom you do here to make text appear over an image will not “go with you’ if you switch to a different theme. Details like that can be addressed after you have a theme which has the overall style you like.
A good idea is to browse the themes here:
Be sure to look at the demo site for each one you are interested in. This is important because the demo is set up to show you what the theme looks like when it is fully configured.
If you are looking in your dashboard for themes (Appearance > Themes) you can see a preview of what the theme looks like with your content, but as you don’t have a lot of content right now, the theme preview you see in your dashboard doesn’t always show all the things a theme is capable of. That is why checking the theme demo page is often better in your situation.
Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Jerry: Thanks yet again… I’ll take some time and go over the various theme choices again. I do, as you suggested, check out the ‘demos’ for each. In the ‘This guy hasn’t a clue’ category: I had NO idea that my train-wreck of a first attempt was already online. All those ‘You are published’ or whatever messages meant (to me) that the changes I had made were saved. As far as I know, no one knows of my site being uploaded. That’s the good news. Now I have to haul to get some content written. BTW: Your prompt response and patience are, as I said, greatly appreciated. Not the usual these days. Be well.. F.

Thanks Fred, happy to do what I can, and glad that you are already hip to checking out the demo sites!

Yes, it is likely that no one knows, as your site is so new, and doesn’t have much in the way of content. That said, by making your site “private” you can hide it from the internet completely, without deleting the site altogether. This is useful for when you are getting set up, and not ready for traffic yet.
Follow this guide to make your site “private” so only you and other members of the site can view it when logged in:
