To add domain or not?

Hello. I own three different domains, all the same, just with different extensions. None of the domains are currently hosted, they are just parked. I am thinking of mapping to one of these in order to get rid of the.wordpress.com extension. If I map my blog to one of these domain names, and the domain is not currently hosted, what happens when someone types in that domain address?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You have to purchase an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade and follow the instructions for mapping an existing domain to your WordPress.com blog. http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

I have the domain mapping upgrade since I bought the bundle when I signed up. Will the mapping still work even if the domain itself is not currently hosted?

Not unless you follow the instructions I linked to above.
