Hi there,
The CSS editor in the WordPress.com Customizer can be used to add just the CSS in your theme that you want to change. You don’t need to copy the entire CSS file for the theme, and it’s best not to do that, anyway — otherwise, if small changes or fixes are made to the theme’s original CSS, it could cause problems on your site.
Instead, we recommend that you use your browser’s inspector tools to find your theme’s CSS and create just the code you need to make the changes you want. We have a guide to How to Find Your Theme’s CSS that helps with that.
If you have other questions about finding your theme’s CSS or coming up with the CSS you need to make your changes, you can post about it in the CSS Customization forum. The expert staff and volunteers in that forum can help you find the CSS you need to make the changes you want. :)
