To Flickr or not to Flickr … that is the question

  I am a school teacher and take students around the world during the summer. I tend to take a lot of pictures of all the fun activities that we do and post them on the site for the family and friends to follow, but I have a few questions that I am hoping someone can help me with!

  1. I am concerned with the size of the pictures that will be posted. I will be emailing the pictures (via the special email address I was assigned) from my iPad, blackberry and camera to the site where they will be posted. And for all those people that have subscribed to the blog, will get an email stating I posted something. Do I need to change all those picture settings (iPad, camera, blackberry) or can I make one change on my WP account that will allow it to be posted as a thumbnail and then when clicked open up into a larger image? If so, how do I set that up?

  2. OR, is it better to add a Flickr account where I can just email pictures to it. If I do that, I will have to use another special email address assigned to me, but will those that subscribed to the blog (and not Flickr) get an email stating something was posted or
  would I need to make an additional post on WP saying pictures have been uploaded to Flickr.
