To Happiness Engineers – about Classic Editor – unanswered question

Hi there, I actually asked @lizthefair a question on the now locked account and it was never answered. I am not familiar with how this works here, but I would have assumed that a questioned asked directly towards a happiness engineer would have been answered or at least acknowledged.
It might have been overlooked due to the fast moving and off topic-ness of the thread, but I do know that staff members were removing comments. This question was not removed, but it was not answered either. I would appreciate an answer, thank you so much :)
@lizthefair – are any of the Happiness Engineers going to take our complaints more seriously? This has 30 pages and a poll with over 1000 responses, stating that the old editor button needs to come back as a default.
Why can’t this be done? I am a developer myself, and there is no reason why that button cannot be put back.
I would also love to have a reason why the link cannot be put back as well.

The question is still unanswered … and over 800 concerned postings have been consigned to history. Probably one of the longest threads ever. It is a great shame when dialogue can be closed due to a few infractions when merely removing those posts would suffice.
And the question remains. Why is it not possible to give us the choice of editor … and stats as well? Both the new versions are faulty and cumbersome.

I believe this attitude (close the thread) is reprehensible and abusive because had not violated the code of conduct and several posters (we) said we did not want to argue or be pushed into a fight repeatedly.I have spent almost eight years as a volunteer in the forums (and as a moderator in the Spanish forums) and rarely saw a similar attitude.
It’s a real shame.

Over a year of Staff time has been devoted to this project of developing an in-house editor, new my sites page, notifications page and stats page. It seems likely that those and other features will be eventually married and integrated with JetPack, so we can manage multiple blogs from the same pages and access them with multiple devices. I consider that to be a worthy goal.
Perhaps Staff may believe that restoring the classic editor link to the new editor would defeat their purpose or interfere with the integration.
Perhaps we have reached a juncture where disgruntled end users like me will have to accept that reality and move on as I did, given that there is no requirement for Staff to provide a rationale for any feature changes or for any Terms of Service changes.
The bottom line for me is a simple one.
As I exclusively use the classic editor for both post creation and editing. I do not require a link in the new editor, which I do not use, to direct back to the classic editor, which I do use. And, I neither expect nor do I demand to know the reason for the link removal.
For the benefit of those who do not know how to access and use the classic editor for publishing or editing I will provide brief instructions below.
To use the classic editor to create posts like I do, go to Dashboard > Posts > Add New

To use the classic editor when you edit posts like I do, you can use the Dashboard > Posts -> All Posts menu, then hover over the post title and click the Edit link.

I do hope this thread does not get derailed. As I am the person asking the question, I already know how to get to the old editor, and it is a pain in the behind.
I am for as least clicks as I can possible make it. Again, if people wish to start A NEW thread stating those instructions, fine. But since I started this thread with a specific purpose and question, please do not derail it. again.

No one owns a thread on these forums and none of us can dictate who will respond to their threads. shawnajroberts (Staff) recently confirmed this in another thread, that I don’t have time to locate the link to as I’m multitasking while supervising my business right now. Here’s the quote:

I don’t own this thread – but it has A PURPOSE. Have the common courtesy not to DERAIL it.
My question again, as I am the person who is asking this question and I don’t care if anyone else doesn’t want an answer – I would. This thread is for the Happiness Engineers and derailing a post is rude and unfriendly.

I just checked on the petition/poll and note that we’ve now reached 2667 cybersignatures. The overwhelming number of which support either the Classic or the option of choice.
I am glad to see that we’re still alive and kicking here. And once again would like to make a request for choice. Both for the editing and the stats pages. And would welcome an answer by the staff why such an option is not being offered.

Oh oh …. I’ve been “nulled”. Whatever that means. I was trying to make a link to the petition/poll page. And now I’m blue. But since blue seems to be a favorite WordPress color for stats and editing pages, maybe my plea will catch their attention more easily. But it was a mistake.

It’s a real shame.It’s a disgrace to punish innocent people awaiting a resolution and answer while rewarding trolls who attack members who hadn’t violated ToS. And abusive comments weren’t removed, just most of the helpful contributions from serious bloggers, many with extensive tech experience!

No, none of the Happiness Engineers are going to take your complaints more seriously than they are already. The number of threads/comments on the issue beyond 200 is not going to influence them in any way.
Why can’t this be done? It can. Clearly, it is not being done, and it is almost certainly not likely to be done. The change occurred not because stasis was impossible, but because staff desired the change. It would be extremely uncharacteristic of them to reverse course now. It has happened, though, in the time I have been here. It has happened exactly once that I can remember.

@ raincoaster Actually complaints are indeed heard. What we won’t get is anyone from Word Press acknowledging that an error was made. That they won’t do.
The new stats page was a disaster. The first rollout consisted of a long single column of data, an enormous map and various unnecessary and extraneous tidbits of useless information. The scrolling necessary was ridiculous., the stats columns were skinny strips with the ratio of visitor and views eliminated.
There was a predictable outcry. Many many angry posts … plus a very good You Tube presentation of the details of the catastrophe.
WordPress Developers never uttered a peep. But the format was gradually changed back to a double column, the map reduced to a readable size and eventually even the visitor/views ratio restored. It is basically an awkward cramped version of the original classic … BUT those changes were made. As of today only the total visitor count and the ability to scan the previous day’s stats with a handy link is missing. But changes were made … and most of them incorporated.
WordPress listened. They just didn’t jump up and down and admit their error. And unfortunately the New Stats page isn’t nearly as functional nor attractive as the Classic. But at least it is workable.
And is proof the the management does indeed listen.
Personally I like to go down fighting. Some won and some lost. But like Antigone …. “I shall have TRIED and failed ….”

So, even answering the questions isn’t good enough? I answered the questions correctly. The questions did not include “Will staffers acknowledge that they made the wrong choice?” That’s easy to answer. It is extremely unlikely that they will do so, even should they decide to roll back the editor. Instead, they will say “we have listened to our users and decided to wait to roll out the New Editor until it’s even better!”
