To host or not to host

Hi everybody. I’d like to set up a site that’s like a blog but not exactly a blog. It will be – let’s call it a small literary project where short stories (one page long) will be published by myself and a friend. Visitors will be encouraged to add their stories in the same vein; they will be moderated by my friend and me and when we like them we add them.
So we’d need:
1- to publish our own stories (we already have a few dozen)
2- possibility for an introductory text which stays on the “front page”
3- on the front page, a way for visitors to submit a story (an edit field, or link to a page with one)
4- a way for us to approve submissions
5- possibility to categorize texts, e.g. according to language (not essential)Now my query: for this, would a (free) wordpress.com hosted account offer enough flexibility, or would i have to host the software myself to do things not directly supported?

You will have to host the software yourself to get all the functionality you want. In particular, the story submission and approval and multiple languages functions won’t work here.

You could have everyone submit their stories as comments, amd then moderate them and add. You could even have a seperate page to do that. But first, you should set up a blog.
