  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

As says my domain registar I can’t change the name of servers but I can change the A record putting the wordpress IP (72.233.69.6). I did this but the wordpress.com IP activates a loop redirect. You can see the result here http://lamadridmorena.com/

I hope you can help me. I’m desesparated because I want my domain with wordpress.com but I can’t and I don’t know what I can do!!!

Thanks a lot, have a nice day!!

  • Hi there, the best way to map a domain to a WordPress.com blog is to set your domain’s nameservers to the following values:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

However, if your registrar requires that you create A records, please note that our IPs change over time. Because of this, your domain might stop working at some point in the future. If that happens, please get in touch with us to find out the most current IPs and then update your A records accordingly.

If you still want to go ahead and map your domain using A records, please be sure to create at least two, pointing to two different IPs from the list below:

    72.233.2.58
    76.74.254.120
    74.200.244.59
    74.200.243.251
    76.74.254.123

Hi, I have the same problem, I need your help!!! Thanks a lot!!!

My domain registar also tells me that instead of creating an A record with IP I can create an A record with FQDN. Can you give the wordpress’ fqdn?

Hi there! I’m taking over for @kathrynwp as she’s out today.

I have a question: Is your “lamadridmorena.com” domain registered through Register.it?

If so, on their support documentation page, they state that you can change your domain’s nameservers (aka DNS):

How can I change my domain’s DNS?

Access the DNS section of your control panel and start the DNS change operation by specifying at least two valid DNS. If the indicated DNS are correct, the operation will be completed in 24/48 hours.

The nameservers (DNS) for WordPress.com are:
    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

The only reference to needing an A record in their support documentation is when you’re trying to point an .it domain to another host. Since you have a .com domain, this should not be necessary.

Can you try logging into your account on Register.it and access your domain control panel to make those changes? If we can get you set up that way, you won’t have problems down the road when the A record IP address no longer works.

I know this was a lot of information, so please let me know if you have any questions.

I’ll contact whit my domain registar but I don’t have the option ‘edit’ for the nameservers (DNS) or the SOA area…. thanks!!

My domain doesn’t work. I only can create an A record (I did with 72.233.2.58 IP) or a CNAME record with fqdn (I couldn’t try this because I haven’t this wordpress’ value).
Maybe I have to edit these?? :MX 10 m-13b.th.seeweb.it.

    MX 20 smtp-avas-th.seeweb.it.
I suppose this because they are the dns registers on my wordpress’ desktop…. I’m not informatic and I’m really confused…. thanks a lot for your help/solution…
