Hi,
There is no featured image assigned to the post Streetstyle по-русски. If there were, then it would display in the header on the single post. See the Featured Images support page, and the Hemingway Rewritten theme guide, which says:
Featured Header Images
If a featured image is assigned to a page or post, the image will appear in the header – otherwise, if you set a custom header it will be displayed. Note that a decorative background image works best in this area since it changes slightly based on the size of the screen, rather than an image designed to be displayed at a fixed size. -
I also use the Hemingway Rewritten theme.
I have the same problem.
I did what @musicdoc1 said, I put the image as “featured image”, but the image does not appear in the home, when I put the option to appear only the summary of the post.
What can I do?Thank you.

The Hemingway Rewritten theme guide says:
If a featured image is assigned to a page or post, the image will appear in the header – otherwise, if you set a custom header it will be displayed.
The fact that posts on your site such as
display the site header image and not a featured image in the header, indicates that featured images are not set on these posts. See the Featured Images support page.
I put the image as “featured image”, but the image does not appear in the home
I guess by “in the home” you mean on the blog page, which in the case of https://matsueki.wordpress.com/ is the homepage. Apart from the fact that I find no evidence that the five published posts on the site have featured images set on them, the Hemingway Rewritten theme guide doesn’t say that all featured images set on posts will appear on the blog page. It says:
Featured images set for Sticky Posts are displayed on the blog and archives above the post content.
There are evidently no sticky posts on the blog page of https://matsueki.wordpress.com.
If there are featured images set on the posts, then perhaps they are of insufficient size (insufficient width in particular can be the problem). The Quick Specs section of the Hemingway Rewritten theme guide says (dimensions in pixels):
4. Featured Images are 676 wide by unlimited height on Sticky posts, and 1280 by 416 as header images on single posts and pages.
-
There are other reasons why featured images might not display according to the rules from the theme guide that I quoted above. If any of the following are unchecked at Customize > Content Options > Featured Images, then the featured images will not display on the respective content types, and the header image (if one is assigned) will display instead.
- Display on blog and archives
- Display on single posts
- Display on pages
I believe these will be checked by default, but some or all of them might have been unchecked on your site at some point in the past.
-
Now I get it.
In that theme, the image does not appear on the homepage, when I select the option to appear only the summary of the post. The image only appears to be in sticky post.
Thanks a lot for the help!
One last question: could you suggest a topic, similar to Hemingway Rewritten, but that appears the image of the post on the homepage, when I select the option to appear only the summary of the post.
Like this blog: https://esoumdesenho.wordpress.com/Thank you very much.

You’re welcome!

As I explained above, the Hemingway Rewritten theme guide doesn’t say that all featured images set on posts will appear on the blog page. It says:
Featured images set for Sticky Posts are displayed on the blog and archives above the post content.
There are evidently no sticky posts on the blog page of https://matsueki.wordpress.com. Secondly, are there featured images set on the posts of that site? I’ve found no evidence that they have featured images set, as I noted above.
I don’t know offhand of any themes similar to Hemingway Rewritten, that display featured images on the blog page when the excerpts options is selected. I’d guess that this behavior would apply to most themes, though they may not resemble Hemingway Rewritten. You may add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic if you’d like to call for staff attention. Staff might be able to provide some appropriate suggestions.
The example you provided, https://esoumdesenho.wordpress.com/, has the Big Brother theme activated. Big Brother doesn’t display featured images on the blog page, or on single posts. Featured images may have only limited applications on that theme, for example, if using display posts shortcode, or in widgets that optionally include featured images such as the Top Posts & Pages widget. The images displayed on the blog page (front page) of https://esoumdesenho.wordpress.com/ are evidently images inserted into the content of the posts.

It has no featured image in posts.
I put it before, but as it was not as I wanted, I took it.Really, thank you!

I should have said that I think it would apply to most themes that display excerpts by default on the posts page, and in those cases where the excerpts option is selected at Customize on themes where such an option exists.

Hi folks, different themes use featured images in different ways. Some will show them on an archive page. Some will show them on the page header, or feature them in the post in an elegant way.
Most themes don’t do all three at once though or you’d end up with duplicates, which look a bit weird.
Have you thought about maybe using a theme like https://gatewaydemo.wordpress.com/ ?
That shows thumbnails on the fancy front page as well as on the archive page:
https://gatewaydemo.wordpress.com/blog/The featured images do not automatically appear anywhere on individual posts, though, so you would want to add them somewhere in the post as well.
