To what does the "30% off" Spring Sale apply?
-
We have a free WordPress.com account for a client.
They are interested in upgrading this to a “personal” plan and transferring in their current domain name.
Exactly how will the 30% off sale apply to this transaction?
Scenario 1:
Assume they buy the Personal Plan and pay annually with one domain to TRANSFERRED in and be managed by WordPress, what will their initial cost be, and what will their ongoing annual cost be?
Scenario 2:
Assume they buy the Personal Plan and pay annually with one domain that is MAPPED, what will their initial cost be, and what will their ongoing annual cost be?
Finally, does WordPress have any idea how muddy their pricing is? It all seems simple until you dig in and realize that many ambiguities are hard to unravel. I would suggest you create a “price calculator” that allows someone like me to check boxes to lay out scenarios like those above and see the total prices both to get started and per period (annual, monthly). This would be a great help.
Thanks!

P.S. I am a bit annoyed that the “blog I need help with” line was added to this post. I am asking a generic question and it should not be tied to this blog. Especially annoying that I can’t seem to edit that line away.

Hi eceleste,
“Assume they buy the Personal Plan and pay annually with one domain to TRANSFERRED in and be managed by WordPress, what will their initial cost be, and what will their ongoing annual cost be?”
The Personal plan would cover the cost of the transfer to WordPress.com and renewal of the domain name going forward. So the total cost would be $48 – 30%. The 30% discount is valid for the first year only and this plan will renew at the full price after that.
“Assume they buy the Personal Plan and pay annually with one domain that is MAPPED, what will their initial cost be, and what will their ongoing annual cost be?”
Our plans include one domain credit, which means you could map a single domain as part of the plan cost. The total cost would be $48 – 30%. The 30% discount is valid for the first year only and this plan will renew at the full price after that.
“I would suggest you create a “price calculator” that allows someone like me to check boxes to lay out scenarios like those above and see the total prices both to get started and per period (annual, monthly).”
Thanks for this suggestion :)
I hope the information above helps clarify the costs but please let me know if you have any questions.
P.S. I’ve removed “the blog I need help with” link for you.
