    Hi
    I am working with “tuned balloon” theme and would like to have the ability to toggle the location of the social share more to middle right of the page, preferably near the “follow and share” however so far I have only read the CSS Basics and the Editing CSS and not worked with it- so I was wondering how complex or complicated that will be?
    thank you for your support
    kind regards
    Marie-Therese

    Hi Marie-Therese,

    I see you’ve used a Text widget to do this, which is a good way to do it.

    I note your email and RSS icons are broken, and this is because you neglected to replace the bracketed areas with the correct URLs and image URLs, the way you did for the other icons:

    <a href="mailto:[email address]"><img title="Email" src="[image URL for Email icon]" alt="Email" width="35" height="35" /></a><a href="[full link to your RSS feed]"><img title="RSS" src="[image URL for RSS icon]" alt="RSS" width="35" height="35" /></a>

    You’ll want to replace everything in brackets with your own information, or you can delete that whole bit if you don’t want icons for email and RSS.

    Also, your Twitter link had a typo and was missing the https:// – I went ahead and fixed that.

    Let me know if you have further questions!

    HI Eurello
    first at all thank you for fixing the Twitter link. I know that my icons were not finished yet, however my question is a different one. I actually wanted to have the “follow me icons” as they are now and then a “share it” icon with all the 4 – 5 icons to share on the right hand side in order so that people can see it without scrolling. however that “share it” icon is a plug in which is not working on WP.com. That is why support told me to see whether there is a way to toggle the location from were the existing “share it” buttons already are (left hand corner bottom page on the “post pages”) to the middle right hand side- of course in a way it stills looks good;-) I hope that explains it a little bit clearer? thank you for your support

    Hi there,

    To clarify, you would like to float the sharing buttons that appear at the bottom of your pages over into the sidebar instead?

    Note that these sharing buttons are specific to posts and pages — we don’t have sharing buttons that apply to your site as a whole.

    You could float them into your sidebar using absolute positioning, but honestly, I’m trying this and it’s not looking very good, because they’re intended to display horizontally. Better, in my opinion, is floating them to the top of the page, using some CSS like this:

    .sd-content {
    position: absolute;
    top: 0;
    padding-top: 10px;
    }

    Let me know how that works for you.

    Here are a couple additional suggestions.

    Use right:0 in eurello’s example from above to move the sharing icons all the way to the right:

    .sd-content {
    	position: absolute;
    	top: 10px;
    	right: 20px;
    }

    You might also like the more colorful sharing icons (which are my favorite ones), and they might fit a little better if you want to move the icons to the top right area. You can turn them on by going to Settings > Sharing and changing the “Button style” option to “icon only.”

    Another thing you might do is select the “Full-width, no sidebar” page template on pages where you don’t want to show a sidebar.

    If you have further questions about Tuned Balloon, please note that there is a dedicated forum for that theme at http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/tuned-balloon
