Tons of SPAM from unrelated(?) WordPress Sites, what can I do?
-
Hi Community,
I was trying to contact WordPress but only way to ask I could find was this Froum…
I have a WordPress Site, but this problem is not related to my site.
One User in our organization gets hundreds of emails per minute from a lot of different systems, all running WordPress. All the same types of e-mails: Newsletter registrations, welcome messages, password resets, newsletters… All not meant for him but all are valid e-mails with dkim signature and correct spf records, I see no way to filter them. All are coming from different IPs and are using different sender e-mail addresses, but all directed to this one single user in our organization (office365 domain).
I really have no ideas, how this is possible.
Problem is running for ~12 hours now. What can we do about this? Who can I contact to get this resolved? I don’t think this forum is the right place for this… :(
Thanks,
- Oliver

Hi Oliver,
If the specific email address used as the site admin is marked as spam, WordPress will send all types of notifications to this admin email.
You can change the admin email to a different address that isn’t personal. However, if you mark these emails as spam, you might miss important messages regarding your website in the future.

Thanks for reaching out for help. This does not sound like an issue from WordPress.com as all of our email notifications would come from the same email address.
