Too difficult to get started – please delete my account!

    I would like to write a simple blog with entries. I stumble even at the ‘create a site’ step. It is completely unobvious how to proceed, how the name gets chosen. I want this step to be very simple. I… work in tech and this is taxing my patience.
    It also seems impossible to delete my profile from WordPress. Can an admin please remove my account for me?
    And I am shocked that the only option on ‘contact us’ seemingly is ‘ask in the forums’.

    When a certain WordPress.com site address is taken by someone else, you cannot pick the same. You can try alternative names, or add extra characters to your preferred name and you can pick any site address available.

    It also seems impossible to delete my profile from WordPress. Can an admin please remove my account for me?

    WordPress.com accounts cannot be deleted permanently once created.

    But if you still wish to deactivate your account and leave WordPress, you can follow the instructions given here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/

    To clarify, direct support with WordPress.com staff is not available if you are on the free WordPress.com plan. If you have WordPress.com Personal plan, WordPress.com Premium plan or WordPress.com Business plan, you will be eligible for direct support.

    If not, you will have to post on WordPress.com community forums and volunteers can answer. If there are any questions that cannot be clarified by volunteers, we will call a Happiness Engineer’s attention to that topic on the forums and they will take it up.
