Too large?

My archived files saved from Xanga are too large. How can I downsize them or create multiple files?

It appears you are not alone. Check out the discussions on Data Migration « Xanga Help.
See Import from Xanga — Support — WordPress.com for specifics. It states that the import files could be three or more separate files.
It looks like Xanga is using WordPress, though I’m not sure if this is new or not. If they are, you may export by category or author to divide up the export into smaller files.
If they are not, check their help forum or the information on the WordPress Codex about exporting from Xanga, though I’m not sure how updated that information is.
I also did a search on “import from Xanga to WordPress.com” and found several helpful articles that go through the process step by step.
I hope these help.

@ajahundiscoveredsoul12 – Someone has tagged this for Staff assistance with the import so kindly be patient while waiting. Threads marked for staff assistance are usually dealt with on an age basis, ie oldest first.
Meanwhile, please use the WordPress.com Support site for any query you may have, as those are the ones relevant to WordPress.com users. Here’s the return I received after searching for “xanga” http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/import-from-xanga/
The advantage of using the Support doc search box is that it also brings up the latest relevant forum topics as well.
