Too Much Drama

    I’m just making a point to say “out loud” that the recent WordPress v. WPEngine drama is really vexing me and making me feel more than a little unsettled and uncomfortable. No, I don’t have an enormous revenue-generating web empire being hosted on WordPress, I just write a blog. I’ve had my blog on WordPress – comfortably so – for more than a decade. I felt “established” and secure. Now I don’t. I feel hesitant to count on WordPress because of the drama – and I’m not sure I even understand wtf is actually going on or why it should affect me at all.

    I doubt I’m alone with these feelings, and I’m not sure there’s anything to be done about it. As I said, I’m just saying it. I’d very much like the no-doubt-ludicrously-wealthy people with the drama to please just stop. The rest of us would like to enjoy what we’re doing, without the extra stress. (Or an easy means of migrating off the platform, if drama is the new way.)
