Too Much White Space After Blog Post in RSS Email Feed
-
I was able to easily connect my wordpress blog to MailChimp so that my blog will automatically be emailed to my subscriber lists. However, there is a tremendous amount of white space appearing after the blog post and before the end of the email. I believe the issue is happening in WordPress. Is there space held for possible advertisements at the end of each blog that would cause the white space? Is there an HTML code that I can put at the end of the post so the blog will feed correctly? I can’ t figure out how to remove all of the space after the blog.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have the same problem! My RSS test email had a huge white space after the blog post text. When I hover over it and right click, it appears to be an image. I contacted MailChimp yesterday and their response confirmed that the problem was with the feed on the WordPress end. They suggest editing the feed on wordpress, which I have no idea how to do. I would appreciate any help as well!

There is no means of editing your Feed that I am aware of. This is what I see https://petloversprogram.wordpress.com/feed/ and that’s where the data is drawn from.

Hey there @petloversprogram and @liss2600 — did either of you have your RSS feeds connected to mail chimp before your most recent posts, and did you have any trouble then?
I’m looking at your feeds here:
http://melissacolson.com/feed/
https://petloversprogram.wordpress.com/feed/And I’m not actually seeing any extra space there. I do see a clear image that is supposed to be one pixel by one pixel (it helps with statistics). Is there a chance MailChimp is making that image bigger?

Yes! That’s what it was. Thank you so much supernovia! It looks like MailChimp was making that image (that I didn’t even know was there) larger, as I had checked the “Resize RSS feed images to fit template ” box.
So I went back into the MailChimp settings and un-checked it. I had checked it originally since the mobile version of the email in the design preview looked stretched. I didn’t want my subscribers having to pinch and re-size so I thought I needed to check this. However when I sent the new test email without having the images re-sized, the images still looked great on my phone. The text was a little small, but you can alter this in MailChimp under Design>Mobile Styles. Keep the width at 100%. You can’t rely on the MailChimp mobile preview, as it doesn’t give an accurate view of what the email will actually look like on a phone. You have to look at the test email for that.
Also, I went into my WordPress settings: Settings> Reading, and made sure the Full Summary box was checked (otherwise I couldn’t get my featured image to appear) then make sure that under Enhanced Feed Settings all the boxes are also un-checked: Categories, Tags, Comment Count, Sharing. When I had these checked they were also giving me trouble.
I hope that helps anyone else who is struggling with this, as it’s taken a lot of trial and error and has been incredibly frustrating!! Again, thanks so much supernovia–MUCH appreciated!

Yes! Unchecking the “Resize RSS feed images to fit template ” box made the white space go away. Thank you so, so much!

Thank you so much for including those details, @liss2600 ! I’m sure others out there will run into something similar, so having the solution spelled out like that is perfect. Thank you.
And thank you too @petloversprogram for bringing this up. I’m glad this is resolved for both of you. Cheers!
