Too new to know what to ask!

Hello everybody, I just set up my Blog yesterday and I’m having “fun” trying to learn what I’m doing. My Blog is centered on my e-comm business and I’m not sure whats acceptable, required, or anything else for that matter. I dont want to step on toes or get banned so where do I go for help. Tim

E-commerce for the most part cannot be done here. There are people who have etsy shops where they sell things they make (art, pottery, etc.) and link to it on their blogs.
There is no e-commerce stuff that will work here since all of it requires php script, javascript and such, and all of that is not allowed here due to security concerns. Flash, forms and iframes are not allowed as well for the same reason.
Advertising and such is also not allowed here at this time although staff has said that they are thinking about it for the future. The following links should explain things further.

Types of Blogs: http://en.wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/Probably your best bet is to register a domain name, hire a web host and self-host a blog using the software from wordpress.ORG. That way you would not have the restrictions we have here on the wordpress.COM free hosting service.

Hello thesacredpath, Thanks for your reply. I am not trying to run my e-commerce business from my blog. I have it established but I’m hoping to get acquainted with the outside world to discuss Pets and animals and the vast array of subjects concerning them. I have set up links to my website on my blog and wonder if that is acceptable and what kinds of things are done. I assume, and hope, you are an official support person and I’d welcome guidance. Yes, you can put a link to your website on your blog.
thesacredpath, like almost all the other helpful people you will find on the forums, is a volunteer. If you need an official view on something, contact staff. You’ll find the link on the Support page linked at the top of the forum.

At the moment, every link on your blog goes to your commercial website. You need to make sure your blog has real content and doesn’t merely exist to drive traffic to another site. This is the relevant section of the Terms of Service:
the Content is not spam, is not machine- or randomly-generated, and does not contain unethical or unwanted commercial content designed to drive traffic to third party sites or boost the search engine rankings of third party sites, or to further unlawful acts (such as phishing) or mislead recipients as to the source of the material (such as spoofing);
